I had a client contact me to commission 6 owls for her. When she described to me what they were for, I welled up. What a special gift that helps memories live on.
These are memory owls. We take an article of clothing from a loved one that has passed and make them into a special owl for you and your family.
Thought I would share this awesome idea.
I was waiting for a drive and decided to make these last minute.
This took me literally 15 minutes to make.
I love them. They are pretty strong too. Obviously I have a lot of costume jewelry and it's still holding up so far.
These can be any color and you can also paint the wooden embroidery hoops.
· Mesh fabric
· Embroidery hoops of all sizes
· Paper clips (for necklaces)
· Paint…..only if you want to get super crafty.
Take your Embroidery hoop apart (But feel free to paint the wooden embroidery hoops before you start….just make sure that they dry first)
Place the inside, smaller hoop under the mesh fabric
Open the top, bigger hoop large enough to fit over the fabric and smaller hoop. Pull fabric gently to get rid of any puckering. Pull tight enough where the fabric has a bit of a bounce to it.
Tighten the embroidery hoop.
Cut fabric close to the hoop. If you leave too much on….it will stick out from the wall once hung. If you cut too close, it may pull through the front and fall apart.
Soooo…..you are all done now. You can go hang them up now.
Once you hang them up on you wall, use paperclips to hang your necklaces. Earrings can just poke on through.
